BACKward - FORward - NOward

Have you ever stopped to realize that there are only three possible directions that you can be moving in? regressing backwards, advancing forward, or progressing noward. I realize that this is one of those “hum.....” messages, but think about it!
I began to think about this concept more and more as I almost painfully listened to the 24/7 political commercials as well as their campaign tactics and not-so-clear pledges. I pretty much placed them in one of the three categories and desperately listened for who would take the citizens of the United States FORward.
I also found myself wondering which candidate would have my best interests at heart; which one would recognize that I am valuable -- just like ALL OF YOU ARE VALUABLE. I can describe myself or place myself in three descriptive categories: an African American, a female, and a Christian (God-fearing believer of His Word).
- As an African American, I cannot help but think about our history of being bought, enslaved, and our forefathers fighting for liberty and freedom and demanding to be recognized as having value and worth.
- As a female, I cannot help but think about our history of enduring a different form of slavery and our foremothers fighting their way to be recognized as having value and worth, especially with struggling to reach milestones of being allowed to vote, to play sports and to gain entrance into any career and profession.
- As a Christian, I cannot help but think about our history from the very beginning of time when God gave man dominion over the birds in the air, the creatures on earth, the fish in the sea and the land. I want to emphasize that God never gave man dominion, power, or authority over man. I also cannot help but think about His Son Jesus who sacrificed Himself so that we can have the abundant life.
Now that this picture has been painted in this month’s blog, I will ask the question again...

Yes, definitely think about the elections and our country’s leadership and the direction they want to move this country....
Yes, definitely think about the events in the news of our day, especially the crimes, the repeated stories of drunken drivers, mass shootings, substance abuse, homelessness....
Yes, definitely think about your beliefs....
Yes, definitely think about your language....
Yes, definitely think about your behaviors, and...
Yes, definitely think about the direction that your beliefs, your language and your behaviors are facing....
Are they contributing towards regressing BACKwards, advancing FORward, or progressing NOward?
Until next month... it is never too late for you to change directions.
